Gilbert Brown’s Honoring Our Freedom Documentary Premiere

Wausau, Wis. (Nov. 5, 2018) – The Grand Theater in Wausau played host to the premiere of Gilbert Brown’s Honoring Our Freedom, a 30 minute documentary produced by Watts Communications, in association with USA Today Network Wisconsin.
On May 21, 2018, Watts Communications flew along with 100 veterans aboard the 32nd mission of Never Forgotten Honor Flight. Former Green Bay Packers’ defensive lineman Gilbert Brown served as the celebrity host of the documentary. Known to fans as “The Gravedigger,” Brown interviewed many of the veterans during the course of the one-day trip to Washington, DC.
Watts Communications filmed the interviews, along with footage of the veterans visiting the war memorials, receiving “mail call” on the flight home, and finally, arriving to a cheering crowd at Central Wisconsin Airport.

Many of the veterans who flew aboard that flight, along with their families as well as other veterans, attended the premiere at the historic Wausau venue. Never Forgotten Honor Flight co-founders Mike Thompson and Jim Campbell greeted the crowd. Each veteran who flew on the May 21st flight received a complimentary DVD copy of the documentary.
The personalities of the veterans shine through in the documentary. The veterans interviewed include a group of three brothers; a husband and wife who served together in the Navy; and the lone World War II veteran on the flight, 90 year old Eugene Arndt, whose sense of humor had the crowd laughing and smiling. There are also many poignant moments, such as the emotional images of Vietnam veterans at the Vietnam Wall, finding the names of friends who were killed during the war.
- After Gilbert Brown’s Honoring Our Freedom was shown, the audience also enjoyed two other Honoring Our Freedom documentaries produced by Watts Communications: the Telly Award-winning Jerry Kramer’s Honoring Our Freedom (hosted by the Packers legend and NFL Hall of Fame member), and the 2016 version, hosted by popular former Packers fullback John Kuhn.
